The singer-songrwiter, arranger and producer, Mic Llave is making his own brand of indie alternative pop music in the OPM scene. He began playing professionally 11 years ago and has bloomed to produce a certain voice and distinct sound.
Mic Llave played guitars for a lot bands and musicians, seasoned and amateurs. He used to play for Princess Velasco and is currently playing guitars for ASAP Sessionistas’ Juris Fernandez. He worked with Star Cinema’s “The Reunion” as an Associate Musical Director and also produced many other records for a lot of artists.
Mic is a part of Mr. Ryan Cayabyab’s pool of new songwriter, Elements Music Camp and released a self-produced EP called, “Ambisyon EP”. His carrier single “Oras” reached the #16 spot on Pinoy MYX Countdown. Soon after several projects with other artists, he became a part of the prestigious singing competition show from ABS-CBN, “The Voice of the Philippines Season 2” in which he got into Lea Salonga’s roster.
Now, after almost two years of playing live gigs and producing records, Mic Llave is releasing his first self-produced LP called, Taong Grasa. The album is independently produced. “I did almost everything from the inception of the songs to cutting the CD inserts”, Mic tells us about how he made the album. “I just want this album to be testament that you don’t need to wait for anyone, a manager, producer or a record company, to make a record.” Taong Grasa is an experience of Mic Llave’s musicality as he shares his side of blues rock, alternative, electronic, pop, country folk and jazz.
The 15-track album is somehow a timeline of a person’s life starting with “Fly On Simone”, which he wrote for his future child. “Bata Ka Pa” is a childhood reminiscent; this song also made the Top 30 of this year’s Philpop Music Festival. The song, “Taong Grasa” is a musical experience different from what pop music sounds like today. He explains, “Yung Taong Grasa kasi picture yun
ng irony of life. In my mind, these people have gifts. Gifts that they don’t know how to use. I think people just needs to know what to do with their gifts, fearlessly and determined so they don’t end up wrecked.” The songs in his album talks more about life, death, regrets, hope, absolution, love and being broken.
The album launch is set to be on June 25, 2015 at Aracama, The Fort Strip.
