Businesses that used to solely rely on brick-and-mortar affairs find that on-premise solutions are no longer suitable, especially with their worker’s telecommuting and customers growing more comfortable with e-commerce.
With the pandemic prompting more and more businesses to recognize the benefits of the cloud in business operations, Globe myBusiness Academy hosted a webinar entitled Getting Started On Cloud masterclass last March 26. This aims to equip decision-makers with the knowledge that will help them identify opportunities as well as innovative solutions that may enhance their workflows.
Getting Started On Cloud masterclass brought together Contact Center Association of the Philippines President Jojo Uligan, Globe Telecom Inc.’s Cloud Transformation Program Lead Francis Dominic Arjonillo, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner Solutions Architect Alvin Delagon, to share their technology and industry expertise with businesses shifting to the cloud.
During the session, Arjonillo cited Globe’s experience when it shifted to the cloud in 2014 and how it continues to reap the benefits ever since. Globe gained significant cost savings and it also gave the company a competitive edge in the market.
The stability brought about by cloud computing allowed Globe’s various portals and applications to run smoothly during high volume/peak hours and new product launches. The agility of cloud computing also allowed Globe to release new offers ahead of its competitors and ensure that its services can be accessed and used around the world.
Meanwhile, Delagon delved into the more technical aspects of cloud computing and explained the way AWS cloud works. He also cited how AWS and Globe have been working together to provide businesses with not just cloud solutions, but hybrid ones that combine cloud and on-premise solutions.
The BPO industry was cited as a good use case, being one of the biggest beneficiaries of Globe and AWS solutions at the height of the pandemic.
According to Uligan, the pandemic pushed 67 percent of the industry’s workers into work-from-home arrangements. Uligan says these arrangements would not have been possible without the connectivity and solutions brought about by partners like Globe and AWS.
Uligan says the future of the industry is in the cloud. More benefits will be realized once the industry transitions from a more traditional model to one that leverages technology like the cloud.
