Calamba Station Now Opens for the PNR Commuters

The railways are stretching further, and passengers will surely increase, as the Philippine National Railways (PNR) took another step of expansion adding up another 3 kilometer travel to Calamba, Laguna from its 53 kilometer travel south.

The Manila to Calamba trip was said to add up an estimated 3,000 to 5,000 passengers to its 70,000 daily passengers. The route’s end-to-end fare will be at P45.

Two trips will be added up to the daily trips to ensure that the public will be catered especially those who are Calamba-based. Totaling to another four additional trips by early 2015.

PNR was said to spend P2.2 billion next year for the continuing service of the country’s only train system.

PNR already has opened stations in Muntinlupa, San Pedro, Biñan, and Sta. Rosa, followed by Cabuyao and Mamatid. And now Calamba station has been opened.

Train commuters will now experience a faster travel down south, even as far as Calamba, Laguna.
