Breakout Pop Sensation vaultboy Drops “why u gotta be like that”

vaultboy returns with “why u gotta be like that” featuring the pop trio Nightly. The vulnerable track is about the push and pull of a tumultuous courtship. vaultboy is in his element, wearing his heart on his sleeve as he croons out of confusion and frustration.

vaultboy shares, “This song is about wanting to be with someone who sends mixed signals about wanting you back. Pushing you away, pulling you closer, and you let them do it because you want to be with them even though you know you’re probably going to be the one who gets hurt.”

vaultboy’s talent for songwriting has been winning millions of hearts across the world over the last year. Navigating matters of the heart through his music with perfect poise, his talent for clever and relatable lyricism has not gone unnoticed.

Back in January, vaultboy released his self-titled debut EP to global acclaim where the five track body of work saw an impressive introduction to vaultboy’s knack for flawless and catchy alt-pop. The release made an incredible impact across the globe, racking up over 250 million streams in a short span since its release and servicing over 4.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify. His debut single “everything sucks” entered at #1 on the Spotify Global Charts, staying there for almost two full weeks and Spotify’s Viral Charts in 37 countries across the globe.

His storming debut has also been evident across Asia, where he steamrolled into the Top 5 of Viral Charts in Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. “everything sucks” also entered top radio stations across the region, eventually landing on Asia Pop 40 (aired on 96 radio stations across APAC) with the music video added to rotation on TV channels like Vh1 India, MTV Asia, Music TV (Indonesia) and VERY TV (Thailand). Born and bred in Jacksonville, Florida, he first began experimenting with music at High School and he has been honing his skills ever since.
