Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) conducted the ceremonial signing of Tourism Enterprise Zone (TE2) Partnership Agreements with the City Governments Rosa, Laguna and Silay, Negros Occidental on 28 February 2023 at Conrad Hotel Manila in Pasay City.
TIEZA’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Mark T. Lapid, together with the Assistant Chief Operating Officer for Tourism Enterprise Zone Management Sector, Atty. Karen Mae G.
Sarinas-Baydo, signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MO) with the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Sta. Rosa City and Silay City.
Sta. Rosa City is represented by its local chief executive, Mayor Arlene B. Arcillas. The partnership agreement with the City Government of Sta. Rosa, Laguna is related to the issuance of necessary permits and licenses of TIEZA-registered tourism enterprises (RTE) and the designated TEZ in the city.
Currently, the designated Private TEZ in Sta. Rosa, Laguna is the Enchanted Kingdom Integrated Attractions Destination TEZ. It is a 13.6-hectare brownfield zone development with a world-class amusement park which will have accommodation establishments, convention centers, as well as themed retail, dining and entertainment facilities
Meanwhile, the signing of the MOA with the City of Silay is an addendum to the existing MOA between TIEZA and the City of Silay dated 25 January 2009. It extends TIEZA’s responsibilities on the issuance of TIEZA permits equivalent to the Mayor’s or Business Permit. The City Government of Silay is represented by its City Mayor, Hon. Joedith C.
Gallego, together with its Sangguniang Panlungsod Secretary Ma. Cristina M. Golez.
To date, the designated Private TEZ in Silay is the Aton Land and Leisure Zone TEZ, a
13.1016-hectare integrated tourism complex with Magikland Theme Park as the first RE inside this TEZ. It also hosts various facilities and amenities, such as hotels, commercial hub and lifestyle complex.
Moving forward, TIEZA and its partner LGUs will now have the shared responsibilities in monitoring and ensuring that the registered business enterprises in the area will align their efforts and initiatives towards sustainable tourism development.
