The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), through its Philippines-Spain Business Council (PSBC), and Casa Asia, in coordination with the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines and the Embassy of the Philippines in Spain held the ninth edition of the Spain Forum at the Instituto Cervantes in Madrid, Spain, from February 5th to 8th, 2023.
The Forum has been a platform for dialogue between Spain and the Philippines, launched to promote annual meetings between delegations to strengthen bilateral ties in fields of common interest. The Philippine government is also in full support of this forum with the participation of Amb. Eduardo Jose A. de Vega of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Undersecretary Timothy John Batan of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and Undersecretary Sharon S. Garin of the Department of Energy (DOE).
With optimistic plans for the Philippine economic growth, the participating Departments shared that the country is ripe for more foreign investments.
The business sector is also well-represented in the two-day forum with the PCCI-PSBC Chairman for International Affairs, Mr. Jude Aguilar, and PSBC Chairman Mr. Jose Antonio Ibazeta leading the PCCI-PSBC delegation.
Amongst the government officials in the forum are heads of companies in various sectors, and members of the academe from both countries.
The forum has brought the Philippines and Spain closer not only on the economic and diplomatic end but also on the social and cultural fronts.
