The Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) headed by its President Jean Henri Lhuillier, is now making every effort to make sure that the four Philippine squads that have qualified for no less than four World Cup competitions this 2023 are well prepared so they will all emerge victorious. This comes on the heels of the bronze medal finish by the Rp Blu Boys against their opponent Hong Kong at the Mens Softball Asia Cup 2023 which guaranteed themselves a spot in the World cup to take place later this year.
First up in the World Cup arena is the RP Blu Girls who will compete in the 18th WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup, set to take place in Dublin from July 11 to 26.
Following their victory over Team Korea and winning the bronze medal, the under-15 girls have also earned a place in the WBSC World Cup U15 Women Softball 2023.
Another ASAPHIL-trained squad, the Co-ed players, are also in the thick of training for the WBSC Co-Ed Slow Pitch Softball World Cup this year after their silver medal finish in the Co-Ed Slow Pitch Softball Asia Cup last May.
Lhuillier applauded the numerous victories of Team Philippines stating: “This has been such a tremendous year for our athletes who have showed true grit and determination and we take immense pride in being able to support each and every one of them. We hope the efforts of our boys and girls will generate increased public support from the Filipino community for our softball program and give the sport the national recognition it rightfully deserves.”
