Americana rock band L.A. Edwards is set to release a brand new live session video for their latest single ‘El Camino’, recorded at the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Sheffield, Alabama on 4th October, lifted from the highly acclaimed album Pie Town, via Bitchin’ Music Group and distributed by The Orchard / M.A.R.S. Worldwide, out everywhere now.
Following a series of sold-out tours with renowned artists like Lucinda Williams, Rival Sons, and The White Buffalo, L.A. Edwards gathered at Road End Studio in Seattle, Washington, to record Pie Town late last year. Having just finished their first headline tour in Europe, the band is hungry to reach more fans on tour around the world.
“El Camino” marks a continuation of the band’s exploration of new musical territories, diverging from their previous, broodier album, “Out of the Heart of Darkness,” which gained critical acclaim and featured in the popular TV series “Yellowstone” in 2023.
The single’s official music video was shot in the picturesque southwest desert of Tucson, Arizona, directed by Andrew Van Baal (best known for his work with Justin Townes Earle and Mark Lanegan). With its feel-good refrain of “Nothin’ on the radio, feet up on the dashboard,” the summertime track showcases Luke and his wife Starr cruising in a stunning, classic El Camino, winding through the scenic switchbacks of the Sonoran Mountain Preserve.
“El Camino is a simple song. More than anything, I just wanted to encapsulate that feeling you get when you’re fully present in whatever moment you happen to be in. Maybe you’re driving with the windows down, it’s warm, your phone’s not ringing, you’re just watching the world roll by. Something like peace.” states frontman, Luke Edwards.
Pie Town, an homage to Luke’s small hometown in the California desert, will mark the band’s 4th studio album, and the second to feature Edwards steadfastly at the helm of his own production. A half Filipino family band, the record features Luke’s brothers Jesse and Harrison Edwards. Luke describes this record as the group’s most expansive endeavor yet, integrating new instrumentation like synths, which could now position them sonically in an open frontier, somewhere between the realms of Tom Petty and The War on Drugs.
Luke, one of seven siblings, boasts a large family and is often accompanied by his wife, Starr, and five children on tour. The tight bond and frenetic energy of a traveling family band, coupled with a laid-back, down-to-earth attitude, make for a raucous, yet good-natured spectacle on the road.
Luke and his brothers are always searching for ways to expand their musical boundaries. Their bohemian lifestyle has given L.A. Edwards a voice and story that are authentic, powerful, and instantly endearing. Proteges of the Tom Petty camp, a radio DJ described the band’s sound as, “Eagles-esque brothers’ harmony, Stonesy guitar weaving, the melancholy of Jackson Browne, and the working-class optimism of Petty himself.” (88.5FM)
“Pie Town is the next step down the Heartland trail for us – it’s a collection of songs about my experiences over the past few years addressing the reticence to “grow up” and all the bulls**t that comes with that loss of innocence. Recorded here in Seattle, it reflects our most expansive and explorative instrumentation. I’m excited for this album, stay young my friends.”
