Toronto-based R&B artist Kofi returned today with his new single, “Pretty Lies” on Red Bull Records. Listen here: https://kofi.ffm.to/prettylies
The acoustic-led track is sonically sultry and lyrically salty, written about a relationship that becomes too toxic to salvage. Accompanied by a stunning video of Kofi singing the song on the mountainous shores of Banff, Alberta, it’s a ballad best heard live and a level up in his evolving musicianship.
Kofi shares, “I wrote ‘Pretty Lies’ in the fallout of a reluctant breakup. Sometimes it’s hard to walk away, even when you know you’re toxic for each other. This one marks the beginning of a new era, pettier than the last.”
The multifaceted artist is on a winning streak following his unapologetic spring EP, ‘Just To Piss You Off’. With stand-out features from the likes of Kuami Eugene, Nonso Amadi, and Boslen, the project positioned him as one to watch across the Canadian rap and Ghanaian Afrobeats spaces. As the year comes to a close, Kofi’s just getting started, with a larger body of work on the horizon in 2024.
With over 142K YouTube channel subscribers, 32.8K TikTok followers and an average of more than 187k monthly stream listeners, Kofi’s music has garnered international appeal, including in the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia which rank among his top 15 most streamed countries.
