Admit it, you were saddened when you heard the news. But yes, 2015 is the year you won’t hear of Kamikazee anymore.
You sang their songs and loved their quirks. You played the songs like Narda, Chiksilog, Tsinelas, and Martyr Nyebera, over and over. Or maybe, you even tried to play it with your friends on your hang out times. But you won’t be hearing them from now on, at least for some long time.
After 14 years, having 4 best selling studio albums, 24 hit songs, and numerous jampacked gigs, Kamikazee bids farewell to their fans as they announced through a video via their Facebook Page on Sunday, January 25.
Fans won’t anymore hear of Ferdinand Jay Contreras (lead vocals), Jose Ma. Luis “Jomal” Linao (lead guitar, co-lead and backing vocals), Led Zeppelin Tuyay (lead and rhythm guitars, backing vocals), Jason “Puto” Astete (bass guitar) and Allan “Bords” Burdeos (drums), as Kamikazee.
Despite the break up, the band assured the fans that they are parting ways not because of contention whatsoever in the group. “Gusto pa naming subukan yung buhay-buhay sa labas ng banda…yung mga trip na pwede pa naming gawing iba,” said lead vocalist Jay.
Kamikazee does not close the doors for possible future ahead of the band. But for now, they are happily parting ways.
