The validity period of multiple-entry visas for Filipinos has been extended up to five years by the Japanese government, according to the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines. This started last September 30.
In addition to that, applicants residing outside of their countries of origin are now allowed to apply at the diplomatic mission that has jurisdiction over their place of residence.
Also, in November, the application procedure for single tourism visas for participants of package tours handled by registered travel agencies will be simplified for these three countries, according to the embassy.
This measure was to promote people-to-people exchanges, and is expected to contribute to the goal of attracting 20 million foreign visitors to Japan.
Visa requirements for Thailand and Malaysia tourists was decided to be waived by the Japanese government, allowing issuance of multiple-entry visas for Filipinos and Vietnamese, effective this summer.
