As the sun rises on April 26, 2025, the cobbled streets and storied walls of Intramuros will awaken with color, rhythm, and purpose. No longer just a silent witness to centuries past, the Walled City is stepping into the spotlight as the heart of Filipino summer celebration with the first-ever Intramuros Summer Festival.
Launched as part of the Intramuros Administration’s (IA) 46th founding anniversary month, this groundbreaking event is more than just a day-long party—it’s a heartfelt revival of community, a celebration of resilience, and a powerful reminder that our heritage is not frozen in time, but alive and beating in the present.
From energetic Zumba sessions at sunrise to emotional storytelling in the afternoon and a soul-stirring concert under the stars, the festival is designed to speak to every Filipino heart. Music lovers, foodies, families, artists, and culture enthusiasts will all find their place in this historic tapestry of tradition and innovation.
A Festival Rooted in Heritage and Hope
The event kicks off with health, wellness, and a parade that’s equal parts pride and performance—showcasing student talents and vibrant Filipino attire. It’s a joyful parade of the people, by the people, and for the people. Free medical services from UST Health Service provide care to the community—reminding us that progress starts with compassion.
Throughout the day, heritage spaces transform into immersive storytelling zones, living museums, and artisan hubs. In Casa Manila, reenactments by Historia Viviente Manila blur the lines between past and present. At Centro de Turismo Intramuros, the laughter and wonder of children echo during storytelling sessions that keep our folklore alive.
And then, as the sky darkens, the city pulses with music—local legends Itchyworms lead the Sinag Concert, joined by a powerhouse lineup of rising stars and local school performers. Plaza Moriones becomes a stage for Filipino sound and soul, celebrating the diversity of our musical heritage.
More Than a Moment: A Movement
One of the most exciting initiatives is the launch of the Intramuros Passport, a symbol of cultural pride and an invitation to rediscover our national treasures. For just ₱350, visitors gain access to five iconic sites—supporting heritage preservation while inspiring deeper engagement with our past.
But the celebration doesn’t end with summer. IA has announced a full calendar of festivals and programs for the year, ensuring that the vibrancy of Intramuros continues beyond April. With events like the Grand Santacruzan, Likha Fair, and Fiesta de Intramuros, the city is positioning itself as a cultural hub that blends history with modern relevance.
A City That Inspires
The Intramuros Summer Festival is a declaration: history is not behind us, it is with us. And in the Walled City, it lives and breathes through music, movement, food, laughter, and love for country.
Whether you come to dance, eat, listen, or simply feel the energy of a united community—Intramuros welcomes you home.
