Emily Sie, a rising star in the music industry, is set to release her latest single, “autopilot” this May. The 20-year-old singer-songwriter, originally from Indonesia and currently based in Boston, has been making waves with her catchy bedroom-pop sound and relatable lyrics.
Sie’s passion for music began at a young age, and she started by sharing covers on her YouTube channel, which has now amassed over 230,000 subscribers and 13 million views. Her music is inspired by artists such as NIKI, Norah Jones, and IU, and she aims to connect with listeners on a personal level through her music. Emily released her debut original material back in 2020, and has now amassed over 3.5 million streams on Spotify.
Currently pursuing her studies at Berklee College of Music, Sie is majoring in Professional Music, with a focus on Songwriting and Production. Her dedication to her craft is apparent in her upcoming single, which promises to be a testament to her growth as an artist.
Sie returned to writing in 2022 after experiencing new challenges, realisations and emotions which have contributed to her development as an artist.
After a hard start at College and adjusting to life so far away from home, Emily says, “Months went by and I started to vent out the frustration I was feeling into writing “autopilot”. In the process, I learned that life is what you make it. I realised that I’ve always been living life on autopilot mode, because my mindset was always to keep going, to keep moving, to keep planning and to keep living in the future. I now know that it’s not always about moving forward and reaching the end goal, it’s also about stopping and enjoying the little moments that make life worth living, and this discovery is what ‘autopilot’ is about.”
Emily worked with Michael Aldi and Dylan James of Saving Reggie Productions (credits include Misellia, Yotari) and their talented team on the production of “autopilot”.
Following the release of “autopilot” Sie’s EP, “all the things i couldn’t say”, will be released this summer.
