How To Get Marriage License in Manila


Wedding bells, wedding vows, and wedding rings – there is so much more than the actual wedding plan. But first, a couple should secure a marriage license before marching down the aisle of forever.

If you are in the City of Manila, here are the requirements you must have in order to have your marriage license and march on towards the love of your life.

Of course, personal appearance is required. You cannot secure your marriage license unless you are actually there, right?

Next, there are a few differences when it comes to age brackets. Here are the following requirements for specific set of categories:

Applicants between 18-21 years old

  • Birth Certificate, NSO Copy – for those who are born in Manila
    • *Latest Certified Local Copy – for those born outside Manila
    • *Latest Original Copy of Baptismal (If no record of birth)
  • Latest Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR)
  • Valid ID with address in Manila – original copy and photocopy
  • Parental Consent – Personal appearance of Parent (Father, Mother or Guardian, in the order mentioned) with valid ID (original copy and photocopy)
  • Marriage Counseling – c/o Manila Health Department and MSWD

* NSO Birth Certificate and CENOMAR may be processed online at www.NSOHelpline.com

*Parental consent provided for under Art.14 of the Family Code of the Philippines

Applicants between 21-25 years old

  • Birth Certificate, NSO Copy – for those who are born in Manila
    • *Latest Certified Local Copy – for those born outside Manila
    • *Latest Original Copy of Baptismal (If no record of birth)
  • Latest Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR)
  • Valid ID with address in Manila – original and photocopy
  • Parental Advice – both parents must come personally with valid ID (original and photocopy)
  • Marriage Counseling – Manila Health Department and MSD

* Parental Advice – If not obtain or unfavorable, Marriage License shall not be issued till after 3 mos. following the completion of the publication of the application.  A sworn statement of the contracting parties must likewise be submitted indicating therein that the parents refuse to give advice.

Applicants above 25 yrs. Old

  • Birth Certificate, NSO Copy – for those who are born in Manila
    • *Latest Certified Local Copy – for those born outside Manila
    • *Latest Original Copy of Baptismal (If no record of birth)
  • Latest Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR)
  • Valid ID with address in Manila – original and photocopy

Foreigner or Former Filipino Citizen but is now Naturalized Citizen of other country

  • Legal Capacity to marry to be issued by their Respective Embassy here in the Philippines
  • Passport – original and photocopy

*If one of the applicants is a former Filipino Citizen and a Divorcee or Foreign National formerly married to a Filipino, SUBMIT Judicial Recognition of the absolute decree of divorce obtained abroad of his/her previous marriage.
