When love finds you, it doesn’t matter when, or where, or how. It just finds you, even if it takes a Christmas shoebox to get it started, and a few more years to write the love story down.
Newlyweds Tyrel and Joana Wolfe love story is now creating a buzz on the social media sites as their story started off with an unassuming Christmas shoebox from some time in their childhood, 14 years ago.
Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child became the means why these two different people, from places very far apart from each other met like it was fate.
It was in 2000 when Joana received a Christmas box at a bible school in suburban Manila, Philippines.
The box had the photo of a 7 year old Tyrel Wolfe, with his name and address in Idaho. Joana sent Tyrel a thank you letter, which the latter did not receive.
Joana decided to track down Tyrel eleven years later using Facebook. When she found a Tyrel Wolfe in Idaho though Facebook, she send him a friend request and a message.
And because some “random girl in the Philippines” intrigues Tyrel, the two started corresponding daily.
As they have that constant communication, the two found out that they have things in common, such as their passion for music, though different in styles and genre. They found out that they both sing and play at least one musical instrument.
Tyrel decided to meet Joana in person and had saved money to fly to the Philippines. When he did, he asked Joana’s father if he could date his daughter. Ten days had passed when they realized they wanted to be together for good.
Tyrel went home, took on extra work, so when he comes back to the Philippines, he could now propose marriage to Joana.
It was in September of 2014 that Joana arrived in Idaho. They got married on the 5th of October.
And these couple asked their guests to bring Christmas shoeboxes as wedding gifts.
Their love story started with a Christmas shoebox from Samaritan’s Purse headquarters, and they decided to come back to where it started with gratitude and love in their hearts. They travelled from Idaho to North Carolina, even when there is a Samaritan’s Purse quarters in Idaho, to seal the story and share the love.
Who would have known that a simple gift from a boy will be returned back to him to give him his joy?
