Still hungover with Calum Scott’s lovely voice? Last October 20, the Brit Awards-nominated singer, Calum Scott promised his fans to make them cry at one point during his Bridges Asia Tour in Manila concert.
With Mitch James as the opening act, Filipino fans were already swooning from his songs, especially ‘Motions’, which topped radio charts in the Philippines.
After the opening performance, Calum Scott started off the concert with his songs from the Bridges album, ‘Rise’, ‘I’ll Be There’, and ‘Last Tears’.
He then welcomed the audience on the Bridges Tour with “Magandang gabi sa inyong lahat”. His next songs, ‘Flaws, ‘The Way You Loved Me’, ‘Boys in the Street’, were part of the concert where he sang in a stool, which he calls the ‘Crying Corner’.
What’s memorable to me is the song ‘Bridges’, wherein, he himself had a hard time deciding whether to put it in his album, because of the meaning and the story behind it.
His setlists are his own stories and experiences of him coming out, his family’s acceptance, his own acceptance of himself, his fears, and his thoughts about life.
The crowd favorite, ‘Run with Me’, which he asked his Filipino fans to chant with him, and ‘This Love’, whom he covered from Maroon 5. These songs made everyone at the New Frontier Theater sing along and dance a bit.
Of course, one of the most anticipated part of the show is the appearance of our very own, Darren Espanto, which he sang a duet with the song ‘Heaven’.
Lastly, his hit song ‘You are the Reason’ was performed with an ending of him saying, “Manila, you are my reason.” Ending the show with an encore, Calum Scott sang ‘Dancing on my Own’ which made the fans emotional.
The Bridges Asia Tour in Manila was presented by AEG Presents Asia and Ovation Productions and will be continuing from other parts of Asia like Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
