BDO Unibank, Inc. and The HARIBON® Foundation for the Conservation of Natural Resources, Inc. have joined forces to promote community-driven sustainability initiatives through BDO’s Adopt-A-Tree Program. The partnership was officially established during the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).
Under the Adopt-A-Tree Program, BDO will donate one (1) native tree seedling to HARIBON® Foundation’s Forest for Life Movement for every successful or booked BDO Auto Loan application until August 31, 2023. These seedlings will be utilized to support reforestation efforts and provide training and additional income for HARIBON’s partner farmers and rural communities involved in maintaining the reforestation sites. Interested applicants can submit their applications at any BDO branch or online through the BDO website at bdo.com.ph/autoloan. Participants who qualify for the Adopt-A-Tree Program will have the option to participate in tree planting activities at designated protected sites.
“With the current environmental challenges the world is facing, it is crucial for us to take action and actively engage in conservation and sustainability efforts, no matter how small or big they may be,” says Bremel Peter R. Guiao, BDO First Vice President and Consumer Banking Group Auto Loan Head. “Through our ongoing sustainability initiatives for BDO Auto Loan, we aim to create a ripple effect that positively impacts the Philippine rainforests and promotes the adoption of eco-friendly vehicles in the country.”
HARIBON believes that sustainability is driven by people. Anna A. Varona, HARIBON® Foundation’s Chief Operating Officer, emphasizes the importance of partnerships between the business sector and environmental advocacy groups to achieve global-scale sustainability. These partnerships foster knowledge-sharing, funding opportunities, and the exchange of solutions.
In addition to the Adopt-A-Tree Program, BDO Auto Loan will offer financing options for hybrid and electric vehicles at lower interest rates compared to gas-powered vehicles. Clients can now own a hybrid or electric vehicle for as low as P20,577 in monthly amortization for a P1M loan amount over a 60-month loan term.
